Lo Stabilimento Militare Propellenti nacque alla fine dell'ottocento (1893), in origine denominato Regio Polverificio sul Liri, consistente in un comprensorio di oltre 64 ettari, completamente autonomo sotto il profilo energetico ed idrico, ubicato nella valle del fiume Liri, in zona basso/Lazio, in posizione baricentrica tra Roma e Napoli.
Attualmente lo Stabilimento dispone di impianti di produzione per nitrocellulose, nitroglicerina e polvere sferica, nonchè servizi e laboratori per l'effettuazione di test di prova chimico fisico e balistici sui propellenti, sulle materie prime, ecc.
I propellenti prodotti sono dotati di marchio CE. Lo Stabilimento ha ottenuto la certificazione di qualità ISO 9001 e la certificazione VISION 2000, nel 2003.
Con decreto dirigenziale del 26 novembre 2004 lo Stabilimento è stato autorizzato a classificare, ai fini del trasporto su strada, secondo quanto previsto dalla normativa ADR, i fuochi pirotecnici.
Historical Background
The Military Propellant Plant, originally called Regio Polverificio sul Liri (Royal Gunpowder Plant), was established at the end of the 19th century (1893) over an area of more than 64 hectares, with a completely independent electric power and water supply. It is located in the Liri river valley, in southern Lazio, midway between Rome and Naples. Today, the plant produces nitrocellulose, nitroglycerin and spherical powder, and its laboratories carry out chemical, physical and ballistic tests on propellants, raw materials, etc. All propellants come with the CE mark. The plant achieved ISO 9001 and VISION 2000 certifications in 2003 and, following the managerial decree of November 26th, 2004, was authorized to classify pyrotechnics in accordance with ADR regulations, for road transport purposes.
